新元号：「令和」について、「人々が美しく心を寄せ合う中で文化が生まれ育つという意味が込められている」

"Culture is nurtured when people bring their hearts together in a beautiful way. 'Reiwa' has such meaning."

出典：万葉集を選んだ理由としては、１２００年あまり前に編纂（へんさん）された日本最古の歌集であることを挙げ、「豊かな国民文化と長い伝統を象徴する国書（日本で書かれた古典）」
